Data handling
How uploads and generated results are handled, retained, and processed inside mdcraft.
Data handling#
mdcraft keeps uploads and generated results privately by default to help improve conversion quality over time.
What may be retained#
- uploaded source files
- extracted Markdown
- generated export outputs
- conversion metadata used to understand failures and improve the product
Why this exists#
Retention helps mdcraft:
- diagnose failed conversions
- improve formatting quality
- reduce repeated extraction mistakes
- build a stronger conversion engine over time
Privacy posture#
- Stored artifacts are kept in private storage.
- Access is server-controlled rather than publicly exposed.
- Sensitive documents should not be uploaded unless you are comfortable with them being retained for product improvement.
Third-party processing#
Some conversions may use third-party OCR or AI providers when needed for document extraction or recovery. This is most relevant for scanned PDFs and image-based files.
Practical advice#
If a document is highly sensitive, confidential, or regulated, treat that as a reason not to upload it until your own legal and procurement requirements are satisfied.
